Summa
Pittsburgh, PA (May 24, 2007) - Summa, a provider of IT consulting and software solutions that improve business performance, is pleased to announce its acceptance to the IBM Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Specialty after successfully completing IBM's rigorous SOA technical and business requirements. Acceptance into this specialized program enhances Summa's Service Oriented Architecture practice, which provides companies with SOA strategy, design, implementation and training services.
"SOA is an increasingly important business requirement for organizations because of the business flexibility it enables," said Sandy Carter, Vice President, SOA and WebSphere, IBM Software Group. "Summa's commitment to SOA provides their customers with a powerful way to align their IT infrastructures with real business issues."
"SOA is the latest realization of concepts and capabilities that have been at the core of Summa's experience through its existence," said Rick Kotermanski, Chief Technology Officer, Summa. "Our skilled technologists bring years of broadly based system development and integration project experience that is necessary for SOA implementations."
Summa provides customized offerings focused on Service Oriented Architecture for its customers, including an SOA Assessment and SOA Executive Seminar. Summa's SOA Assessment helps companies jumpstart their efforts to evaluate and prescribe an SOA for their application, line of business or company. Summa's SOA Executive Seminar is designed to help executives and line of business managers build a solid foundation in the fundamentals of SOA. Other SOA Services that Summa provides include: establishing an SOA strategic path and roadmap; educating companies on the benefits of SOA for their organization; adapting pre-existing software designs for use in an SOA environment; assessing a company's readiness for SOA; and delivering pilot programs to demonstrate SOA's business value.
Recent examples of Summa SOA projects include work with The Doyle Center for Manufacturing Technology, Pittsburgh Logistics Systems and Rockwell Automation. Summa is helping Doyle Center plan to deploy their SOA enabled solution for their Network Centric Manufacturing Model. Through this model, Doyle Center will deliver technology tools, services and management support to small manufacturing enterprises and link them together in a virtual, collaborative supply chain. Summa's work with Pittsburgh Logistics Systems includes re-architecting their eflatbed.com application to take advantage of the benefits of a Service Oriented Architecture. Through eflatbed.com, Pittsburgh Logistics Systems delivers customized transportation logistics solutions for greater efficiency, lower costs and increased service. Summa consultants have been working with Rockwell Automation to build reusable business objects for their SOA platform, FactoryTalk Integrator, which is built on IBM WebSphere technology.
